What is chiropractic?
Chiropractic originates from the Greek terms “cheír” (hands) and “praxis” (to practice) literally meaning done by hand. It’s a holistic form of manual treatment that focusses principally on the spine and nervous system.
A chiropractor finds out where the body is out of balance. It’s aim is then to restore and maintain optimal function in the nervous system.
A chiropractic treatment consists of varying treatment modalities, including manual adjustments, drop-table technique, activator, soft tissue techniques, etc.
My approach
My approach is holistic and personal, and focuses on the body’s inner wisdom to heal itself. Besides helping to bring your body back to balance, my main goal is to teach you how to listen to your body and become the master of your own healing process 🙂
My vision on chiropractic
Each of us is filled with energy. We want this energy to flow freely so that the nervous system will function at ease. Like this the flowing energy will have the ability to heal.
However, sometimes our body can get out of balance. Our energy can become blocked. This causes the nervous system to function with dis-ease which over time can lead to disease and dysfunction.
The imbalances can be caused by many different things – e.g. injury, unhealthy diet, allergies, illness, misalignment of the joints, emotional pain… The blockages can also manifest in many different ways – e.g. muscle tension, herniated disc, headache, depression, insomnia, constipation…
Flow
Chiropractic is one way amongst many others to improve the energy flow by releasing these blockages. As a result it restores ease in the nervous system.

My story
Hi! I’m Lianne Trines (or Li), I’m a Dutch chiropractor. I have been living in Algarve for 8 years, after graduating from Anglo-European College of Chiropractic (UK) in 2017. I ran my own clinic as Trines Chiropractic for 6 years.
I initially became a chiropractor because it had helped me a lot as a teenager and I wanted to help others in the same way. During covid life slowed down which allowed me to start becoming aware of what was really going on within me, what I needed and where I want to go. My body had already been giving signs for years. However, often when I tried to get help I was dismissed. That combined with the self-imposed duty to help others I kept going. I was doing what I thought I should be doing, or what others told me I should do. But I wasn’t listening to what I really needed.
What my body once tried to gently show me, had now knocked me out. I was sick, with pain, depressed and burnt out in all possible ways. I kept ignoring my body’s cry for rest. Until I eventually no longer had a choice and had to stop everything at the end of 2023, to finally take care of myself for real.
Stop to listen, listen to heal
When I stopped chiropractic I thought it was because helping others heal wasn’t my purpose after all. But in the last 1.5 years that I spent focussing on my own healing I have learned that I was wrong. I just needed to listen to myself, to the inner voice that I had learned to silence from a very young age.
I love helping people and to inspire others to heal and grow. I just had to learn the hard way that self-care always comes first, and that rest is essential. And through that I am now ready to serve my higher purpose in a way that flows with me 🙂
